Bathfitter-Another woman homeowner denied.

Saleman came and looked at the bathroom than asked if my husband was retired or working. "Working" ( I had already told the person on the phone that I was the only homeowner when I made the appointment) " If you have a problem with that than you can just leave. I have run into this problem before." He left. Company policy. Guess my money is not good enough. Glad I did not waste my time listening to his sales pitch. Too bad too, my father had 2 bathroom done by them in another state and it was a really nice job.

Every remodel company (windows, siding, roof, kitchens) uses this technique. It's not sexist because we give the same line if the husband is by himself. Plus we love women, cause they are most always the one that gives us the final ok. We just know, if we give you a price, 90% of the time the first thing out of your mouth is "I need to talk to my husband/wife before I make a decision." It's your way out and we just wasted 1 to 2 hours of our time. We also know once we leave the house there is a 95% chance you won't call back. Sales is a numbers game and with 100% commission would you go to work if you knew there was 90% to 95% you wouldn't make a dime? I am not saying it's right but it is just the truth.

How is it sexist if the policy applies to both husbands AND wives? SALESMEN cannot make sales without both parties present! Wisen up people the company just doesn't want to waste its time...the estimates are already FREE, after all!!!!

It's not sexist. I have been a kitchen remodler salesman my whole work life and 99% of the time the woman, or the man, says at the end that they need to talk it over with the spouse. Even after they said earlier, "I am paying for this or my spouse doesn't care or I can make the decision." It's a way out and after 14 years, I never enter a house if both decision makers aren't there. There are rare cases where the spouses will do it on there own but when your on 100% commission with a family to feed you have to play the numbers because a no sale counts against us.

It's not sexism, it is simply money. They cannot make renovations or changes to your home without both homeowners okaying it. They could get sued. It's a legal thing.

Bath Fitter treats husbands the same way. If both decision makers are not present, they will not quote a price --then get the old "I'll have to talk to my spouse and get back to you" response. Time is money and history constantly repeats itself.

It's not a company policy. The salesman came to my home knowing he would be dealing only with me. You dodged a bullet, consider youself lucky you didn't meet with a salesman from this company.

i had the same issue. they wouldn't even make an appointment over the phone with me. my husband has no interest in our bathroom and doesn't have the time either. since i would be paying for it, what does it matter. this is just a really sexist company.
